The invisible bond

by Meritxell Riera Prims

Al Pacino as an old Michael Corleone in The Godfather: part III (1990).

Sometimes I want to be loved. Others, I want to be feared.

What do I earn from that? You cannot love from a distance -and I don’t necessarily mean physical distance. Love is an act of intimacy. It requires full involvement. ‘At your own risk.’, they say.

The foundations of fear, on the other hand, lie in hating what you don’t understand and using that feeling to keep it at bay.
However, fear and hate linger on through a stronger bond that that of love.

Another one of life’s paradoxes.
